HACR Latina Empow(h)er Summit Wrap-up!

HACR SummitWASHINGTON, /DiversityComm/ – The Hispanic Association on Corporate Responsibility (HACR), one of the nation’s leading organizations for the inclusion of Hispanics in Corporate America, concluded its inaugural HACR Latina Empow(h)er Summit™ (LES) at the Four Seasons Westlake near Los Angeles and released its HACR Research Institute report Empow(h)er™: Understanding Workplace Barriers for Latinas, which explores the barriers for advancement of Latinas in Corporate America.

The HACR LES was created to provide high ranking Latina corporate professionals a leadership advancement program that addresses the internal and external priorities unique to Latina professionals. During this program, attendees participated in two-days of empowering professional sessions, including a day-long Latina-focused board readiness program facilitated by the National Association of Corporate Directors (NACD), TEDx-style sessions from thought leaders, and panels with high level corporate executives and board directors.

During the inaugural LES, HACR released its research report Empow(h)er™: Understanding Workplace Barriers for Latinas, which shares findings from a study on the obstacles that Latinas face towards their career progression. It also provides strategies for Latinas to help combat the obstacles they may face to advancement.

“The HACR LES is our organization’s commitment to accelerate the growth of Latinas into high level roles in Corporate America given the significant underrepresentation of Latinas in senior and executive level positions,” said Cid Wilson, president and CEO of HACR. “We thank Microsoft for serving as host sponsor as well as all of our sponsors for their support of our new program.”

“Hispanics are one of the largest and fastest growing minority groups in the United States and Latinas, specifically, will represent more than a third of the female U.S. population by 2060,” said Dr. Lisette Garcia, executive vice president and chief operating officer of HACR who also leads the HACR Research Institute. “Although their diverse backgrounds and experiences can provide Corporate America with a strong competitive advantage, they remain underrepresented. This inaugural program aligns with our mission to advance the inclusion of Hispanics in Corporate America.”

HACR wishes to thank Microsoft for serving as the host sponsor of the HACR LES as well as the research sponsor of our Empow(h)er™: Understanding Workplace Barriers for Latinas report. Additionally, HACR would like to thank Gold Sponsor UPS, Latina Champion Sponsor Bank of America, and Silver Sponsors: The Coca-Cola Co., Ford Motor Co., and Prudential Financial.
